Village Groups:
Traditional authorities represent the ancestry of the people. In Bamenda II municipality, there is a First Class Fondom headed by the Fon of Mankon, followed by three second class fondoms headed by the Fons of Chomba, Mbatu and Nsongwa. Mankon has 78 quarters followed by Mbatu with 24, Chomba with 16 and Nsongwa with 10. Accession to the throne is by inheritance. These Traditional Authorities are recognised officially by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and both the DO and Mayor count on them for the success of the administration. All these and a host of Quarter Heads help in the traditional administration of the villages. The villages have traditional councils that take care of traditional concerns.
The villages have organised village committees/associations with an elected executive. The organisation of each village is such that they make efforts to meet their development needs while taking those that they do not have the capacity to do, to the Council. Villagers make financial contributions annually.
